Not a typical forester.  Not a typical educator.

In 1992 I graduated from Mississippi State University with my Bachelor’s of Landscape Architecture.  It was in this program that I learned about landscape aesthetics, the benefits of land planning, and the utility of Geographic Information Systems.  Two years later I graduated with my MS in Forestry from MSU, where I was able to take what I had learned in Landscape Architecture and apply it to my thesis, The cost of providing scenic beauty in the Ouachita National Forest.

In 1994 I joined Weyerhaeuser’s Timberlands Team in the Mississippi/Alabama Region.  Based out of Sulligent, Alabama I worked as a land management forester where I was involved in all aspects of management  - from site prep to harvest.  Eventually I transitioned into a harvest planning and inventory management role.  While working for Weyerhaeuser I was able to complete my PhD.  In 2005 I graduated with a PhD Forestry with a minor in Wildlife Management from MSU.

Since 2007 I have been Alabama Cooperative Extension System Forestry Specialist, and am an Associate Professor of Forestry in Auburn’s School of Forestry and Wildlife Sciences.  To learn more about my current and past projects, you can access my curriculum vita.
